Field Training: Advanced Surface Prep & Coating Integrity for Corrosion Technicians This focused training session is built for corrosion technicians who want to sharpen their field skills, improve inspection accuracy, and ensure long-term asset protection. Through live demonstrations and expert instruction, participants will gain practical, job-ready techniques they can apply immediately in the field. |
| 2:30–2:45 PM | — | Break | — | Demo Velocity Blast – Taught by Angel Alvarez, Reed Minerals Achieving Correct Surface Preparation - See a live blasting demonstration that emphasizes proper nozzle velocity, angle, and standoff distance. Technicians will learn how to consistently achieve the correct surface profile—critical for coating adhesion and long-term corrosion control. Liquid Coating Application - Instructors will demonstrate the correct application of DENSO 7200. This segment covers material handling, mixing, application thickness, and troubleshooting common field issues. Technicians will walk away with a clear understanding of how to apply liquid coatings to spec. |
| 2:45–3:30 PM | — | Josh Rodgers, Titan Corrosion "Tech to Tech Talks" |
Steven Wenzel, Lake Superior Consulting "External Case Study Workshop" | Holiday Detection & Verification Technique - Taught by Jared Kiser, PSS Industrial - SPY Division After the coating application, we’ll walk through proper holiday detection procedures to verify coating continuity. This includes equipment setup, voltage selection, sweep speed, and interpreting results. The goal is simple: ensure technicians can confidently identify and document defects before the asset goes into service. |
